Job summary

The Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry is seeking a facilities and grounds support staff for Indian Creek Recreation Area in Rapides Parish. The role involves grounds maintenance, overseeing offender labor, and managing fee station operations, including reservations, patron check-ins, and fee collection.

Flexibility to support peak attendance and events is required. A valid driver’s license and ability to pass a background check are necessary.

Qualifications

• One year of experience in building maintenance, clerical work, custodial work, food service work, or groundskeeping.

Responsibilities

• Assists with grounds maintenance; mowing and trimming grounds.
• Picks up trash and fallen limbs from trees prior to mowing.
• Maintains cleanliness of bathrooms, beach areas, camping sites, and recreation area.
• Reports to supervisor any noted repairs/maintenance needed to buildings on recreation grounds.
• During assigned shift, may provide oversight and direction to offender labor who are assigned to Indian Creek.
• Performs duties related to the fee station such as assisting with reservations and/or reservation system, checking in patrons, collecting fees and explaining the rules and regulations of the recreation area, and checking out patrons at the end of their stay.
• Distributes tickets (day passes) for visitors and campers; closes out the register at the end of the day; ensures monies are secure.
• Attends to the needs of visitors such as answering questions related to the recreation area, reporting any concerns they may have, etc.
• Performs other duties as requested.
