Job summary

Park District is seeking a motivated maintenance worker to perform unskilled and, as capable, semi-skilled tasks to maintain facilities and grounds.

You will mow, weed trim, clean bathrooms and shelters, assist with renovations, and help with minor repairs, while keeping safety and quality in mind.

Successful candidates work well with others, communicate clearly, and can adapt to a variable schedule including weekends and holidays.

Qualifications

• Must have and maintain a valid driver's license.
• Ability to work in a team and recognize contributions of all employees.
• Ability to perform variable physical requirements of park maintenance work.
• Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders, including employees and the public.
• Ability to speak and write clearly, concisely and persuasively using correct grammar, spelling and punctuation.

• Ability to work cooperatively with others.
• Ability to perform with independence and initiative.

Responsibilities

• Perform unskilled and semi-skilled work of routine, repetitive nature such as mowing, weed trimming, cleaning.
• Maintain routine on Park District facilities and grounds.
• Assist with minor mechanical repairs and service on equipment as directed.
• Collaborate with other staff toward completion of renovation projects and repairs.
• Develop proficiency in operation and maintenance of equipment.
