Job summary

The City of Austin is seeking a Grounds Maintenance Technician to care for park areas, golf courses, and City properties. You will perform mowing, edging, planting, and bed maintenance, and apply fertilizers and pesticides under supervision.

A TX Chemical Applicator license and a valid TX driver's license are required. Expect to operate tractors, mowers, spreaders, and other equipment, keep detailed maintenance records, and travel to multiple work sites as needed.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited high school or equivalent plus three (3) years of related experience.
• Must obtain a Texas Certified Chemical Applicators license within six months.
• Valid Texas Class C Driver License required.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine grounds maintenance: mowing, edging, trimming, planting, watering, weeding, and bed/tree care.
• Applies fertilizers, pesticides, and insecticides in compliance with laws and safety rules.
• Operates equipment such as mowers, sprayers, tillers, spreaders; maintains records and schedules.
