Job summary

A city department is seeking a Parks Grounds Assistant to perform minor maintenance and grounds keeping tasks in Austin. The ideal candidate will assist with park maintenance, operate hand and power tools, and engage with the public. A valid Texas Class C Driver’s License is required. Qualifications

• One (1) year experience related to grounds keeping or general labor services.
• Valid Texas Class C Driver’s License if assigned to operate vehicles.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance tasks like litter abatement and trimming.
• Assist the public with questions and concerns.
• Drive City of Austin service vehicles.

Skills

Knowledge of general grounds keeping processes

Knowledge of equipment used in grounds keeping

Skill in oral and written communication

Ability to operate power tools
