Job summary

County of Kaua‘i is seeking a Park and Facility Worker II to perform a range of manual and semi-skilled tasks in maintaining parks and recreational areas. You’ll operate lightweight power equipment, assist with landscaping, and help ensure facilities are clean and safe for public use.

Typical duties include mowing, trimming, planting, and basic repairs. A valid driver’s license is required; testing will be conducted, and work typically Monday through Friday.

Qualifications

• Combination of education and experience sufficient for graduation from high school
• One year of work experience in care, maintenance, or beautification of landscaped areas; operation or repair of passenger type mowers

Responsibilities

• Supervises and participates in raking, trimming, fertilizing, and watering of lawns, plants and shrubbery
• Propagates plants and shrubs from seeds, cuttings and roots
• Sprays insecticides and herbicides to eradicate pests
• Cleans and repairs park facilities and structures
• Operates park maintenance equipment as required
• Plans landscaping operations and modifications to existing plans
• Enforces rules and safety policies for public property and visitors
