St Matthews Catholic Church is seeking a Thrift Store Assistant to support the thrift store operations. You will help move furniture and large donations, assist customers, process sales, and maintain inventory while upholding the church’s mission.

The role requires strong organizational and time-management skills, teamwork, and a service-oriented attitude. Evening and weekend hours may be required to ensure smooth store operation and community support.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Basic mathematical abilities (adding, subtracting, multiplying, dividing).

Responsibilities

• Promote the thrift store vision and mission to customers and volunteers.
• Greet customers and determine their needs.
• Assist customers with loading/unloading furniture and large donations.
• Describe merchandise and explain use, operation, and care.
• Recommend and help locate merchandise based on customer needs.
• Process cash or credit payments and compute sales prices.
• Answer questions about the store and merchandise.
• Help organize and maintain store inventory.
• Maintain a clean, attractive, and safe environment.
• Drive for the store when needed.
• Assist the Food Pantry with weekly food pickup.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
