Holy Spirit Catholic Church seeks a Parish Maintenance Supervisor to oversee maintenance, repair, and upkeep of facilities and grounds. Position Overview
Holy Spirit Catholic Church is seeking a Parish Maintenance Supervisor responsible for overseeing the maintenance, repair, and upkeep of all parish facilities, grounds, and equipment. This position ensures that the church, parish life center, chapel, rectory and other parish properties are maintained in a manner which supports the parish’s mission and provides a safe, orderly, and welcoming environment for worship, education, and community activities.

Hours: 40 hours per week; may require work during evenings, weekends and holidays;
Reports To: Pastor
Key Responsibilities
Facility Maintenance and Repairs: Perform routine maintenance on all parish buildings; conduct regular inspections of facilities to identify maintenance needs and safety concerns; coordinate and oversee major repair projects and renovations; and maintain detailed records of all maintenance activities, warranties, and service contracts.
Grounds and Landscaping: Oversee the contractor providing the maintenance of parish grounds, including lawn care, landscaping, snow and ice removal and seasonal decorating.
Safety and Compliance: Ensure all facilities comply with local building codes, fire safety regulations, and accessibility requirements; maintain safety equipment including fire extinguishers, emergency lighting and security systems; conduct regular safety inspections and address hazards promptly; coordination with local authorities for required inspections and certifications.
Vendor and Contractor Management: Obtain quotes and manage relationships with contractors and service providers; schedule and supervise contracted work including specialized repairs, HVAC, cleaning services and landscaping; ensure all contract works meets parish standards and budgeted requirements.
Budget and Inventory Management: Develop and manage the annual maintenance budget in collaboration with Parish Finance Council; maintain inventory of supplies, tools, and equipment; purchase materials and supplies within approved budget guidelines.
Event Support: Prepare facilities for liturgical celebrations, weddings, funerals, and other parish events; set up and break down equipment, tents, and furniture as needed; coordinate with parish staff to ensure facilities meet event requirements.
Emergency Response: Respond to facility emergencies during and after business hours; maintain emergency contact protocols and procedures; coordinate emergency repairs and restoration services.
Qualifications
Education: High school diploma or equivalent; minimum 3-5 years of experience in facilities maintenance, building trades or related field.
Technical Skills: Working knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical and carpentry systems; ability to operate and maintain groundskeeping equipment; familiarity with building codes and safety regulations, basic computer skills for record-keeping and communication.
Supervisory Skills: Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills; excellent organizational and time management skills; ability to work independently and prioritize multiple tasks; basic computer skills
Certifications and Licenses: Valid driver’s license required; HVAC, electrical, and/or plumbing certifications preferred.
Physical Requirements: Physical ability to perform manual labor and work in various weather conditions: ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly; capability to climb ladders and work at heights; extended periods of standing, walking bending and kneeling.
Other Preferred Qualifications: Associates degree in facilities management, engineering, technology, or related field; supervisory or project management experience; experience working in faith based and or non-profit organizations
Communication: Professional demeanor when interacting with parishioners and visitors; ability to work collaboratively with the parish leadership team members. Attend weekly team meeting with pastor and staff.
Ethical Standards: Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and adhering to ethical standards in all matters.
Additional Information
Work Environment: Indoor and outdoor work environment; exposure to various weather conditions; occasional exposure to chemicals, fumes, and loud noises.
Schedule Flexibility: May require work during evenings, weekends, and holidays; on-call availability for emergency situations.
