Job summary

St. Luke the Evangelist Catholic Church in Palm Harbor is seeking a dependable Maintenance Technician to ensure the safety, functionality, and cleanliness of parish buildings and grounds.

The role supports the Church’s mission through facility care and timely handling of repairs. The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or GED and at least 2 years in facilities maintenance, with knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and basic carpentry.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; vocational training or certification in building trades is a plus.
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in facilities maintenance or similar role.
• Familiarity with maintenance tools, procedures, and safety practices.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, and perform physically demanding tasks.

Responsibilities

• Perform general maintenance and repairs on parish facilities including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, and basic construction.
• Monitor and maintain the overall condition of the church, rectory, parish office, classrooms, and surrounding grounds.
• Conduct regular inspections and routine maintenance to prevent issues.
• Provide janitorial support as needed, including waste disposal, cleaning, and restocking of supplies.
• Set up and break down furniture and equipment for Masses, parish events, and meetings.
• Respond promptly to maintenance emergencies, including after-hours situations when necessary.
• Coordinate with external contractors for specialized services.
• Ensure all work is performed in accordance with diocesan guidelines and safety standards.
