Job summary

Cumberland County Department of Social Services seeks a Community Social Services Assistant to work with families, provide intensive goal‑oriented services, and help parents improve parenting skills. The CSSA collaborates with social workers, parents, and caregivers, reporting progress in person and in writing, and may testify in court.

Qualifications

• Requires at least one year of experience performing similar tasks.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to teach, model parenting duties, and advocate for services.

Responsibilities

• Provide intensive services to families and assist parents in improving parenting skills.
• Transport to supervised visitations using personal vehicle; travel may be within or outside the county.
• Supervise parent-child visitation in and outside the agency and monitor placements during trial home visits.
• Engage in in-home management services based on Family Services Agreement and case plan.
