In a year, we provide more than 3,000 children, ages 6 weeks through Pre-K, with high-quality literacy and STEAM-infused learning; give 58,000 youth and teens access to sports, aquatics, camps, teen leadership, and employment; serve over 200,000 members with programs, services, and facilities; and engage over 25,000 volunteers and donors across Atlanta.

NATURE AND SCOPE:

Under supervision of the PFCE Manager and in accordance with Head Start standards, local, state, and federal regulations, the PFCE Specialist plans and coordinates the Family and Community Engagement service area.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Ensure the PFCE program meets Head Start standards and understands the Parent, Family, and Community Engagement Framework.
  • Advocate and collaborate with families and social service agencies to support community well-being.
  • Monitor implementation of PFCE activities, including family needs assessment, partnership agreements, goal setting, resource development, referrals, crisis intervention, home visits, community partnerships, and program documentation.
  • Coordinate parent engagement events and resources with center leadership.
  • Review and update community assessments; develop relationships with community providers for parent/staff training.
  • Seek new opportunities for collaboration, donations, and resources.
  • Develop communication systems for timely information sharing.
  • Prepare reports on program efforts and outcomes.
  • Follow up on parent engagement issues; provide reports to management.
  • Assist in correcting issues through monitoring and technical support.
  • Ensure accurate record-keeping, including confidentiality of Family files and data entry.
  • Organize and maintain Policy Council and Parent Committees.
  • Develop service area work plans and monitor progress.
  • Support recruitment efforts, including children with disabilities, and coordinate volunteer activities.
  • Participate in self-assessment and professional development.
  • Establish monitoring systems, conduct file reviews, support data entry, and provide training.
REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor’s degree in social work and 3+ years in social, human, or family services.
  • Strong conflict resolution, listening, communication, and facilitation skills.
  • Knowledge of social work principles, referral systems, family support, and advocacy.
OTHER INFORMATION:

Ergonomics: Sitting, bending, standing, some repetitive keyboard work, seeing, verbal communication, lifting to 25 pounds.
