Job summary

Thom Child & Family Services is seeking a Parent Educator for its Parents as Teachers program in Lowell. The role involves delivering home visiting services to a caseload of approximately 12 families, focusing on child development and positive parenting practices.

The position supports families through goal setting, referrals, and documentation, with both full-time and part-time options and competitive benefits.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of two years of supervised experience with young children and/or families.
• Ability to work with diverse Lowell-area communities and communicate effectively.

Responsibilities

• Provide regular, long-term home visiting services to enrolled families.
• Establish trusting, supportive relationships with families using a strength-based approach.
• Support parents in strengthening parent-child relationships and promoting healthy child development.
• Provide parent education related to child development, school readiness, health, safety, and positive parenting practices.
• Assist families in identifying goals, monitoring progress, and building problem-solving and advocacy skills.
• Conduct required screenings and assessments according to program requirements.
• Connect families to community resources, healthcare, and other services as needed.
• Maintain accurate client records, documentation, and program reporting.
• Participate in required training and Foundational Training for Parents as Teachers.
