Job summary

The Learning Lamp is hiring a part-time Home Visitor to support families with early childhood education and development. You will provide parent education, developmental information, and family support through home visits, promoting healthy development from pregnancy to kindergarten.

Using the Parents as Teachers curriculum, you will conduct developmental screenings, plan engaging activities, and collaborate with staff to ensure a safe, nurturing environment for young children.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Psychology, Social Services, or related field.
  • Experience with children; volunteering or parental experience acceptable.
  • Clearances must be current: PA State Criminal History, Child Abuse, FBI, NSOR, and Mandated Reporter Training.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds regularly.
  • Valid PA Driver’s License.

Responsibilities

  • Provide parent education, developmental information, and family support to parents through personal home visits.
  • Promote the healthy development of children from pregnancy to kindergarten.
  • Utilize the Parents as Teachers curriculum to deliver home-based early childhood education.
  • Conduct child developmental screenings including vision, hearing, language, motor, and health development.
  • Collaborate with other staff to plan engaging, age-appropriate activities for children in the classroom and playground.
  • Caring for children during snacks/meals, diapering, cleaning and supervision.
  • Safeguard children by following safety regulations learned in employee training.

What do we offer?
  • Pay Range starts at $19.00 per hour
What are the duties and responsibilities?
  • Provides parent education, developmental information and family support to parents through personal home visits.
  • Promote the healthy development of children from pregnancy to kindergarten.
  • Utilize the nationally recognized "Parents as Teachers" curriculum to deliver quality home-based early childhood education, developmentally age-appropriate resources and effective child-parent interaction techniques
  • Conduct child developmental screenings including vision, hearing, the understanding and use of language, motor development, hand-eye coordination, and health and physical development.
  • Collaborating with other Child Care Staff to plan and execute fun, engaging, and age-appropriate activities for the children in the classroom and on the playground;
  • Caring for vulnerable young children when preparing snacks/meals, changing diapers, cleaning and supervising;
  • Safeguarding each child when cleaning the classroom, adhering to the safety and security regulations you learn through our employee development training.
What are the required qualifications?
  • MUST have a Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Psychology, Social services or other related field.
  • Previous experience with children, and this does not have to be in a childcare center! Are you a parent? Have you volunteered with children before? Are you a former or retired teacher? All of these are examples of some of the many ways our staff have experience with children.
  • Other:
    • Appropriate clearances and trainings: PA State Criminal History Record, Child Abuse Report, FBI Criminal History Report, NSOR clearance, and Mandated Reporter Training. Clearances must be kept current.
    • Physical done within one year prior to start date
    • TB test within three months prior to start date
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds on a regular basis
  • Valid PA Driver’s License
