Job summary

The Learning Lamp Connellsville, PA is seeking a Part-time Parent Educator to provide parent education and family support through home visits, promoting healthy development from pregnancy to kindergarten.

Using the Parents as Teachers curriculum, you will conduct developmental screenings, plan age-appropriate activities, and collaborate with staff to ensure safe, engaging programs; candidates must have a Bachelor's degree in related field and meet required clearances.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in ECE or related field required.
• Experience with children or family support is acceptable.
• Clearances must be current: PA Criminal History, Child Abuse, FBI.
• Physical exam within one year and TB test within 3 months.

Responsibilities

• Provide parent education and family support through home visits.
• Promote healthy development from pregnancy to kindergarten.
• Deliver quality home-based early childhood education using Parents as Teachers.
• Conduct developmental screenings for vision, hearing, language, and motor skills.
• Collaborate with Child Care Staff to plan engaging activities.
• Ensure safety by supervising, cleaning, and following procedures.

What are the duties and responsibilities?

• Provides parent education, developmental information and family support to parents through personal home visits.
• Promote the healthy development of children from pregnancy to kindergarten.
• Utilize the nationally recognized "Parents as Teachers" curriculum to deliver quality home-based early childhood education, developmentally age-appropriate resources and effective child-parent interaction techniques
• Conduct child developmental screenings including vision, hearing, the understanding and use of language, motor development, hand-eye coordination, and health and physical development.
• Collaborating with other Child Care Staff to plan and execute fun, engaging, and age-appropriate activities for the children in the classroom and on the playground;
• Caring for vulnerable young children when preparing snacks/meals, changing diapers, cleaning and supervising;
• Safeguarding each child when cleaning the classroom, adhering to the safety and security regulations you learn through our employee development training.

What are the required qualifications?

• MUST have a Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Psychology, Social services or other related field.
• Previous experience with children, and this does not have to be in a childcare center! Are you a parent? Have you volunteered with children before? Are you a former or retired teacher? All of these are examples of some of the many ways our staff have experience with children.
• Other:
• Appropriate clearances and trainings: PA State Criminal History Record, Child Abuse Report, FBI Criminal History Report, NSOR clearance, and Mandated Reporter Training. Clearances must be kept current.
• Physical done within one year prior to start date
• TB test within three months prior to start date
• Ability to lift up to 40 pounds on a regular basis
• Valid PA Driver’s License
