Job summary

The Learning Lamp in Connellsville, PA is seeking a part-time Early Childhood Education professional to deliver home-based education and family support to families using the Parents as Teachers curriculum. This role emphasizes child development from pregnancy through kindergarten and requires engaging with parents during home visits.

Applicants should hold a Bachelor’s Degree in a related field and have experience with children.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Experience with children is preferred.
  • Clearances and trainings: PA State Criminal History Record, Child Abuse Report, FBI Criminal History Report, NSOR clearance, and Mandated Reporter Training.
  • Physical done within one year prior to start date
  • TB test within three months prior to start date
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds on a regular basis
  • Valid PA Driver’s License.

Responsibilities

  • Provides parent education, developmental information and family support to parents through personal home visits.
  • Promote the healthy development of children from pregnancy to kindergarten.
  • Utilize the Parents as Teachers curriculum to deliver home-based early childhood education and developmentally appropriate resources.
  • Conduct child developmental screenings including vision, hearing, language, motor, and health development.
  • Collaborate with other Child Care Staff to plan engaging activities for children in classroom and playground.
  • Care for vulnerable young children during snacks, diaper changes, cleaning and supervision.

What are the duties and responsibilities?

  • Provides parent education, developmental information and family support to parents through personal home visits.
  • Promote the healthy development of children from pregnancy to kindergarten.
  • Utilize the nationally recognized "Parents as Teachers" curriculum to deliver quality home-based early childhood education, developmentally age-appropriate resources and effective child-parent interaction techniques
  • Conduct child developmental screenings including vision, hearing, the understanding and use of language, motor development, hand-eye coordination, and health and physical development.
  • Collaborating with other Child Care Staff to plan and execute fun, engaging, and age-appropriate activities for the children in the classroom and on the playground;
  • Caring for vulnerable young children when preparing snacks/meals, changing diapers, cleaning and supervising;
  • Safeguarding each child when cleaning the classroom, adhering to the safety and security regulations you learn through our employee development training.

What are the required qualifications?

  • MUST have a Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Psychology, Social services or other related field.
  • Previous experience with children, and this does not have to be in a childcare center! Are you a parent? Have you volunteered with children before? Are you a former or retired teacher? All of these are examples of some of the many ways our staff have experience with children.
  • Other:
  • Appropriate clearances and trainings: PA State Criminal History Record, Child Abuse Report, FBI Criminal History Report, NSOR clearance, and Mandated Reporter Training. Clearances must be kept current.
