Job summary

The Learning Lamp in Connellsville, PA is hiring a Group Supervisor for our Penn Highlands Hospital location. This full-time role oversees our child care program and ensures safe, engaging activities for children from 6 AM to 6 PM, with a 40-hour work week.

Qualifications

• A bachelor’s degree in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education or the human service field.
• A bachelor’s degree with 30 credit hours in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education or the human service field and 1 year experience with children.
• An associate’s degree from an accredited college with 2 years of experience with children.
• An associate’s degree with 30 credit hours in the field and 3 years of experience.
• PA State Criminal History, Child Abuse, FBI clearances and Mandated Reporter Training are required and must be current.
• CPR Certification is required.
• Physical ability to lift up to 40 pounds and meet health standards.
• TB test within three months prior to start date.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the safety and well-being of children at all times.
• Supervise indoor and outdoor activities, maintaining a secure environment.
• Assist with feeding, diapering, toileting, and basic care routines.
• Foster independence and age-appropriate self-help skills.
• Follow daily schedules and implement age-appropriate activities.
• Support staff with games, arts, and learning activities.
• Maintain positive communication with parents and staff.
• Encourage positive behavior through redirection and reinforcement.
• Support health and hygiene standards and basic first aid when necessary.
• Assist with documentation of daily activities and incidents.
• Engage families through professional communication.
• Be flexible with shifts including summers and holidays.

Group Supervisor

We are looking for a full-time Group Supervisor to support our child care program at our Penn Highlands Hospital location.

Hours

• Our centers are open 6 AM - 6 PM. Full-time employees work 40 hours per week.

Duties and responsibilities

Supervision And Safety

• Ensure the safety and well-being of children at all times.
• Supervise indoor and outdoor activities, maintaining a secure environment.

Daily Care Activities

• Assist with feeding, diapering, toileting, and other basic care routines.
• Foster independence in children by encouraging self-help skills appropriate to their age.

Curriculum Implementation

• Follow the daily schedule and implement age-appropriate activities.
• Support classroom staff with games, arts and crafts, learning activities, and other developmental experiences.

Communication

• Maintain positive communication with parents, children, and fellow staff members. Collaborate with colleagues to help ensure consistent care and support for children.

Behavior Management

• Encourage positive behavior through patience, redirection, and positive reinforcement. Address challenging behaviors in a calm and professional manner.

Health And Hygiene

• Help maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards within the classroom and facility.
• Follow all health and safety procedures and administer basic first aid when necessary.

Record-Keeping

• Assist with documentation related to daily activities, incidents, and observations as needed.

Parental Involvement

• Support positive relationships with families through professional and respectful communication.

Schedule And Availability

• Must be flexible and available to work shifts based on program and staffing needs.
• Opportunities may include summer work, school breaks, holidays, and other as-needed shifts.

Qualifications

• A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education or the human service field.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 40 pounds on a regular basis
• Sitting, standing, walking, bending and stopping for long periods of time up to eight hours per day
