The Academies of Math and Science (AMS) in Phoenix, AZ, is hiring a Paraprofessional to support teachers and ensure students have the tools for success. This on-site role offers an hourly wage starting at $15.50 to $17 per hour, DOE, with start date ASAP.

You will work closely with educators to provide individualized support, manage small groups, and help maintain a positive classroom environment. A strong interest in education and long-term career in teaching or leadership is favored.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent or Associate's degree.
• Previous experience working with children in an educational or youth-focused setting.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a valid Level One IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.

Responsibilities

• Support lead teachers in delivering instruction and classroom management.
• Work one-on-one or in small groups to reinforce skills and support individualized learning.
• Assist in maintaining a safe, orderly, and inclusive classroom environment.
• Substitute for lead teachers as needed to ensure continuous learning.
• Prepare instructional materials and assist with grading or documentation as directed.
• Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and support staff to meet students' needs.

Position Summary

As a Paraprofessional at AMS, you will play a vital role in supporting teachers and ensuring all students have the tools they need to succeed. Working side by side with highly skilled educators, you will provide individualized and small-group support to scholars, assist with classroom management, and help foster a positive, structured, and engaging learning environment.

This role is ideal for someone passionate about education, eager to work directly with students, and considering a long-term career in teaching or school leadership.

Key Responsibilities

• Support lead Teachers in delivering instruction by assisting with lesson activities, classroom management, and transitions.
• Work one-on-one or in small groups with students to reinforce skills, reteach concepts, and support individualized learning plans.
• Assist in maintaining a safe, orderly, and inclusive classroom environment that promotes respect and engagement.
• Substitute for lead teachers as needed to ensure learning continues uninterrupted.
• Prepare instructional materials, set up classroom resources, and assist with grading or documentation as directed.
• Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and support staff to meet the academic and social-emotional needs of students.
• Model professionalism, respect, and high expectations in every interaction with students, staff, and families.

Required

Qualifications & Competencies

• High School Diploma or equivalent or Associate's degree.
• Previous experience working with children in an educational or youth-focused setting.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a valid Level One IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.

Preferred

• Bilingual in English and Spanish.
