The role involves assisting a certified teacher, preparing instructional materials, clerical tasks, and supervising students.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent; 2 years post-secondary education or an associate degree.
• Ability to communicate well with students, staff and the public
• Ability to follow directions and work under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Assist a certified teacher in preparing instructional materials.
• Perform clerical tasks: copying, laminating, typing and record keeping.
• Assist students individually and in groups with lessons or computer instruction.
• Assist in administering, scoring, and recording tests.
• Assist with breakfast/lunch as directed.
• Supervise students during time-out and other non-classroom activities.
• Perform duties as scheduled by the Principal or teacher.
• Notify the teacher of problems or special information about individual students.
• Provide direction for substitute teachers when the teacher is absent.
• Read and review materials as requested by the teacher.
• Follow rules, policies and procedures adopted by the Governing Board.
