Job summary

Window Rock Unified School District #8 is seeking a paraprofessional substitute support staff member for a 10-month school year. You will assist teachers with instructional activities, testing, and classroom operations, while maintaining records and supervising students.

The role requires relevant education credits, an emergency substitute teaching certificate, and a fingerprint clearance card. Bilingual Navajo/English is preferred to support diverse student needs.

Qualifications

• Associates degree or 60 college credits or successful completion paraprofessional examination.
• Minimum of one year of experience in education or customer service with a focus on children or families.
• Bilingual in Navajo and English preferred.
• Emergency substitute teaching certificate required.
• First Aid and CPR Certificate preferred.
• Valid AZ IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.

Responsibilities

• Assists teachers in preparing and presenting instructional activities and lessons with individual students or in small groups.
• Assists with testing, instruction, and other learning activities as assigned by the teacher.
• Assists Building Principal and Assistant Principal with school programs (e.g., in-school suspension, library aide).
• Maintains student files, records, grade sheets, attendance, and other classroom records.
• Assists with planning and implementing class projects and special events.
• Assists with student supervisory responsibilities in and out of the classroom.
• Helps provide guidance and serves as the main resource for substitute staff.
• Performs clerical duties including typing, inventory, filing, ordering supplies, etc.
• Maintains a neat, organized classroom environment and prepares rooms for activities.
• Participates in in-service training programs as directed.
• Maintains confidentiality of all student information.
• Assists in inventory of equipment and materials; performs substitute teacher duties as needed.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
