Job Title: Substitute Teacher

Department: School

Reports To: Principal

Summary: Individual who assumes teaching and supervisory activities during a regular teacher’s absence.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Maintain as fully as possible the established routines and procedures of the school and classroom to which assigned.
• Teach the lessons outlined as prepared by the absent teacher.
• Consult with the Principal before initiating any teaching not outlined in the lessons of the absent teacher.
• Complete the school substitute teaching report at the end of each substitute teaching assignment.
• Return all keys or other materials at the end of each substitute teaching assignment.
• Assume any supervisory duties that have been assigned to the regular teacher during the regular teacher’s absence.
• Follow district policies and procedures, including those in the substitute handbook, as adopted by the Governing Board.
• Perform other related duties as assigned by the Principal.

Qualifications

Have a current Arizona Teaching or Substitute Teaching Certificate.

Scope and Salary

Temporary position based on the district substitute teacher salary schedule.
