Job summary

AITKIN PUBLIC SCHOOLS seeks Special Education Paraprofessionals to provide instruction and support to students with disabilities under the direction of classroom teachers.

Responsibilities include helping students stay on task, complete assignments, and maintain appropriate behavior while assisting in daily living and job-skill activities. We are seeking short-call substitutes for Rippleside Elementary and Aitkin High School, with ongoing applications for the current year.

Qualifications

• Must have a High School diploma or equivalent and either an Associates degree, 60 credits in postsecondary education, or be willing to take and pass the Para Pro Assessment.
• Ability to work with students with disabilities and accept their limitations.
• Must be able to lift/pull/move a minimum of 50 pounds.
• Team orientation and ability to follow directions from supervising teachers.

Responsibilities

• Assist students with tasks under classroom teacher direction to stay on task and complete assignments.
• Support students in maintaining acceptable behavior and functioning in daily living and job skills.
• Work as part of a team in Rippleside Elementary and Aitkin High School to fill substitute vacancies as they arise.

Description

Special Education Paraprofessionals provide assistance, under classroom teacher direction, to students identified with special needs by helping them stay on task, complete assignments, maintain acceptable behavior, and function in daily living and job skills.

We are looking for "short call" substitutes to work in either or both buildings, Rippleside Elementary and Aitkin High School.

Applicants will be considered for current vacancies and any full- or part-time positions for the current school year.

Starting wage:$17.03/hour. Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis to fill positions as they become available.
