Job summary

Lorain City Schools is seeking a Special Education Paraprofessional to support students under the direction of building administrators and the Office of Exceptional Children. The position runs 6.75 hours per day, 189 days per year, at $18.75 per hour for the 2026/27 school year. Applicants must meet ESSA/ORC paraprofessional qualifications and obtain the Ohio Educational Aid Permit.

Reports to Building Administrator(s) and/or Executive Director for the Office of Exceptional Children or designee.

Qualifications

• Must be a highly-qualified paraprofessional under ESSA and ORC 3319.074.
• Must have an associate degree or 48 semester hours, or ParaPro score 456+.
• Must have or be able to obtain an Educational Aid Permit through the Ohio Department of Education.

Hourly Rate:

$18.75 per hour (2026/27 school year payrate)

Required Certification(s)

• must be a highly-qualified paraprofessional under the provisions of ESSA and ORC 3319.074 by evidencing one of the following requirements:
• Associate of Arts Degree or higher (official transcripts required); OR
• two years of college totaling 48 or more semester hours (official transcripts required); OR
• passing score of 456 or higher on the ParaPro Assessment (copy of ParaPro Assessment results).
• AND must have or be able to obtain an Educational Aid Permit through the Ohio Department of Education
