Job summary

Liberty Public Schools is seeking a Special Education Paraprofessional to support students in a 10-month position from August through May, with potential summer work. The role starts August 20, 2026 and offers full benefits including health, dental, and vision, plus life and disability coverage.

Pay ranges from $16.76 to $21.03 per hour depending on experience; separate rate for severe needs paraprofessional. Schedule is Monday–Friday with start/end times varying by assignment.

Qualifications

• Criminal Justice Fingerprint/Background Clearance required.
• High School Diploma or equivalent; Associate’s Degree preferred.
• DESE approved paraprofessional test or 60 college credit hours or 20HR Substitute Certificate Course.

Responsibilities

• Assist students with basic academics (reading, language and/or math).
• Follow individual health plans (e.g. seizure activity, blood sugar monitoring).
• Assist with the personal care of students if needed (e.g. bathroom, eating).
• Attends to student’s health needs and follow individual health plans as directed by a healthcare professional.
• Assist in the implementation of instructional programs including self help and behavior.
• Provide sensory interventions under the guidance of therapist and teachers to keep students calm and ready to learn.

Special Education Paraprofessional

Anticipated Start Date: August 20, 2026

Special Education Paraprofessionals assist teachers by performing a variety of tasks relating to the physical and instructional needs of the students in a classroom setting. Depending on the classroom and/or building assignment, the Special Education Paraprofessional may support children with various degrees of special needs.

This is a 10 month position (August through May), with an opportunity to work summer school in June. Paraprofessionals are eligible for benefits as listed below.

Pay

Special Education Paraprofessional - $16.76 - $21.03 per hour (based on relevant work experience)

Severe Needs Paraprofessional - $17.24- $21.63 per hour (based on relevant work experience)

Job Duties

• Assist in the implementation of instructional programs including self help and behavior
• Provides sensory interventions under the guidance of therapist and teachers for the purpose of keeping students calm and ready to learn.

Requirements:
