Job summary

Empowerment Academy Charter School in Jersey City, NJ is hiring a paraprofessional to support a high school student with basic reading, writing and math instruction. This is a full-time position starting immediately, with salary $35,500-$37,500 and benefits; substitute certificate preferred but not required.

Responsibilities include providing help or breaks and redirection as needed, supporting the teacher during classroom activities, and helping the student stay on task.

Qualifications

• Must have completed 2 years of college (60 credits) and possess an Associate's or higher degree.
• BA, Substitute Certificate, or working towards a Bachelor's Degree would be a major plus.

Job description

Empowerment Academy Charter School is hiring a paraprofessional to support a High School Student. This position will work to support a student during their basic instruction in reading, writing, math, and other educational related activities as assigned by the teacher. You will be providing help or breaks/redirection as needed. This is a full time job with a salary and benefits. This is for an immediate position for this year and beyond. A Substitute Certificate is preferred.

Base Salary

$35,500-$37,500

Hours

Monday-Friday, 7:15am-3:05pm

Requirements

Teacher certification is not required for this position. However, candidates must, at minimum, have completed 2 years of college (60 credits) and possess an Associate's or higher degree. Possessing a BA, Substitute Certificate, or working towards a Bachelor's Degree and/or some teaching experience would be a major plus. It is also important to have strong communications skills, basic administrative skills, and to be a team player who possesses maturity, a strong work ethic, and a whatever-it-takes to help children attitude. Experience with Autism Spectrum Disorder is a plus.
