Job summary

Academies of Math and Science in Tucson invites dedicated individuals to join our team as Paraprofessionals (Teacher’s Assistants). You will support teachers, supervise students during transitions, and help deliver instruction under supervision in our high-performing K-8 program.

We value bilingual skills in English and Spanish, a high school diploma or equivalent, and a commitment to fostering an inclusive, safe classroom. Starting pay ranges from $15.50 to $17 per hour, DOE.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent and passed paraprofessional exam or Associate’s degree.
• Experience working with children in a school setting preferred.
• Ability to work collaboratively with teachers and staff.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and support campus-wide activities (lunch, recess, arrival, dismissal).
• Assist lead teachers with instruction, classroom management, and transitions.
• Work one-on-one or in small groups to reinforce skills and support individualized learning.
• Maintain a safe, inclusive classroom environment and assist with grading/documentation as directed.
• Substitute for lead teachers as needed to ensure uninterrupted learning.
• Prepare instructional materials and coordinate with staff to meet students’ needs.

Academies of Math and Science (AMS) is an academically advanced charter school network serving predominantly low-income students, with a decade-long track record of being either the highest or one of the highest performing K-8 charter schools in Arizona.As part of the AMS family, your role as a paraprofessional is to work alongside our team of talented educators in guiding motivated students through an advanced curriculum.
