## English Language Development (ELD) Teacher – 2026–2027 School Year**Location:** 434 W Lerdo Rd, Tucson, AZ 85706 **Start Date:** ASAP **Schedule:** Full-Time, On-Site **Compensation Range:** $44,770. – $50,550.80 (DOE)### Position OverviewAcademies of Math and Science (AMS) is a network of high-performing K–8 public charter schools committed to academic excellence, college readiness, and equitable access to high-quality education for students in historically underserved communities.AMS is seeking a passionate and culturally responsive **English Language Development (ELD) Teacher** to provide high-quality language instruction and support for multilingual learners. The ideal candidate will foster English language acquisition while ensuring students have equitable access to rigorous grade-level content through evidence-based instructional strategies.AMS teachers are collaborative professionals who believe all scholars can achieve at high levels through structured instruction, strong classroom culture, and consistent use of data to inform practice.### Key ResponsibilitiesInstruction & Student Achievement* Deliver standards-aligned English Language Development instruction to multilingual learners.* Develop and implement lesson plans that support English language acquisition across the domains of listening, speaking, reading, and writing.* Differentiate instruction based on students' English language proficiency levels and individual learning needs.* Utilize formative and summative assessment data, including language proficiency data, to guide instructional planning and interventions.* Collaborate with classroom teachers to support language development across all content areas.Classroom Culture & Student Support* Establish and maintain a structured, positive, and high-expectations classroom environment.* Implement PBIS and preventative intervention strategies.* Support students' academic, behavioral, and social-emotional growth while fostering confidence in language development.* Create an inclusive learning environment that values students' cultural and linguistic backgrounds.Collaboration & Professional Growth* Participate in weekly professional development and professional learning communities.* Collaborate with grade-level teams, instructional leaders, and special programs staff to support multilingual learners.* Contribute to school-wide initiatives that promote equitable outcomes for English learners.Family Engagement* Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress and language development.* Partner with families to support English language acquisition and academic success.* Participate in parent-teacher conferences and school engagement activities.### Minimum QualificationsCandidates must meet **one** of the following requirements:* Bachelor's degree in Education, English, TESOL, Linguistics, or a related field **OR*** Valid Arizona teaching certificate with an ESL/SEI endorsement or other appropriate certificationAdditionally, candidates must:* Demonstrate strong classroom management skills.* Pass required background checks and obtain an IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.* Demonstrate commitment to serving Title I and multilingual communities.* Exhibit knowledge of second-language acquisition strategies and best practices for English learners.* Show strong analytical skills and enthusiasm for data-driven instruction.* Exhibit collaboration, professionalism, and initiative in a team-based environment.### Compensation & BenefitsAMS offers a competitive compensation and benefits package designed to support professional growth and long-term career success.* **Salary Range:** $44,770. – $50,550.80 (DOE)* 401(k) retirement plan with employer contributions* Medical, dental, life, and disability insurance* Optional vision coverage* Performance bonuses averaging $2,200 annually (up to $3,400)* Stipends for after-school tutoring and extracurricular leadership* Ongoing professional development and instructional coachingJoin us to enjoy rewarding challenges and ongoing opportunities!### About UsAMS Schools are among the highest performing Title I schools in Arizona.
