Job summary

Lorain City Schools is seeking a paraprofessional for the 2026/27 school year. The position is 6.75 hours per day, five days a week, for 189 days per year, with a $18.75 hourly rate.

The role requires ESSA/ORC-qualifying credentials and Ohio Educational Aid Permit eligibility. The successful candidate will support students under the Office of Exceptional Children and report to Building Administrators or the Executive Director for the Office of Exceptional Children.

Qualifications

• Must be a highly-qualified paraprofessional under ESSA and ORC 3319.074.
• Evidence of one of the following: AA degree or higher, 48+ semester hours, or ParaPro score 456+.
• Must obtain Educational Aide Permit through the Ohio Department of Education (ODE).
• OAPSE 120 / Special Education Paraprofessionals is the union/classification for this role.

Reports to: Building Administrator(s) and/or Executive Director for the Office of Exceptional Children or designee

Hourly Rate: $18.75 per hour (2026/27 school year)

Required Certification(s)

• must be a highly-qualified paraprofessional under the provisions of ESSA and ORC 3319.074 by evidencing one of the following requirements:


• Associate of Arts Degree or higher (official transcripts required); OR


• two years of college totaling 48 or more semester hours (official transcripts required); OR


• passing score of 456 or higher on the ParaPro Assessment (copy of ParaPro Assessment results).


• AND must have or be able to obtain an Educational Aid Permit through the Ohio Department of Education
