Job summary

Cabot Public Schools, Inc. is seeking a paraprofessional to support teachers and reinforce instruction in a classroom setting.

Under direct supervision, the paraprofessional will assist with reading, language arts, math, and other skills for individual students or small groups. The position includes assisting with lesson plans, materials, and assessments, plus supervision of students in various non-instructional areas.

Qualifications

  • Must have 60 college hours or have passed Paraprofessional Exam.
  • Background checks must be successfully completed.

Responsibilities

  • Reinforce instruction in reading, language arts, math, and computer skills with individuals or small groups.
  • Assist in preparing instructional materials and implementing lesson plans.
  • Support teachers by administering and correcting classroom exercises and assessments.
  • Assist with behavior management and maintaining a safe, orderly classroom.
  • Supervise non-instructional areas (lunch, bus duty, playground, study hall) as needed.
  • Contribute to parent communication to foster involvement in student education.

Job description

Under the direct supervision of the teacher, the paraprofesssional will provide support while reinforcing instruction to individual or small groups of students in a classroom environment.

Essential Tasks And Responsibilities
  • Assist and guide students to reinforce reading, language arts, mathematics, computer instruction, and other skills
  • Assist in the preparation of instructional materials and the implementation of lesson plans.
  • Work with students individually and in small groups to reinforce basic learning and implement assigned programs
  • Assist professional staff in the administration and correction of classroom exercises, tests and assessments
  • Assist in classroom preparations and strategies for reinforcing instructional materials and skills according to individual student needs
  • Assist with record-keeping procedures to document student learning and performance
  • Assist with classroom behavioral management to minimize disruptions
  • Assure a safe and orderly classroom, and ensure students are on task
  • Assist students in non-instructional areas, such as supervising the student lunch programs, bus duty, playground duty, corridor, study hall, and other related non-instructional areas
  • Accompany students on field trips for the purpose of assisting with supervision if needed
  • Construct, copy and distribute and use educational materials as needed
  • Assist teacher with parent contact as requested to foster effective and participatory parent involvement in student education
  • Assist students with special needs in all aspects of classroom instruction if needed
  • Assist students with activities of daily living for the purpose of maximizing their ability to participate in school or learning activities
  • Follow all applicable safety rules, procedures and regulations governing the proper manner of assistance for all students
  • Adhere to all policies of the District
  • Perform other related tasks as assigned by the building administrator and other central office administrators, as designated by the Superintendent

Qualifications
  • Must have 60 college hours - OR - successfully have passed the Paraprofessional Exam
  • Successful completion of all background checks

Contract: 180 days
