Job summary

Bakersfield City School District is seeking an Aide I (Paraprofessional) for 3-hour shifts to support teachers and students across sites. The role focuses on reinforcing instructional activities, guiding students in reading, writing and mathematics, and assisting with materials, yard duty, and clerical tasks.

Reports to the Principal and emphasizes equity, collaboration, and accountability. A high school diploma or equivalent and required district tests are needed.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Passage of BCSD Paraprofessional Test is required.
• Two years of college study (48 semester units) are required.
• An Associate's or higher degree is preferred.
• CBEST may be required for certain bilingual vacancies.

Responsibilities

• Assist teachers, specialists, counselors and other staff in reinforcing instructional program and guiding students in development of desirable academic and social skills.
• Work with small groups of children under direction of staff.
• Assist with preparation and arrangement of instructional materials and equipment.
• Assist with yard duty, first aid and home contacts.
• Assist with recordkeeping and clerical duties as appropriate to program funding.
• May assist in classroom, library, computer instruction, in-school suspension, and/or community activities.
