Job summary

CCRES Educational and Behavioral Health Services is seeking a Special Education Paraprofessional to support students in elementary settings across multiple locations in PA. The role runs on school days with hours 8:45am–3:30pm and includes a 30 minute unpaid lunch break.

Responsibilities include instructional and behavioral support, aiding IEP/504 implementation, supervision during non-instructional times, and collaboration with teachers and staff to foster student growth and safety.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma required; Title I consideration noted.
  • Two years post secondary education preferred.
  • Prior public-school or licensed provider experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide instructional, behavioral, and/or physical support to individual students or small groups.
  • Assist students with IEPs and 504 Plans by applying accommodations.
  • Reinforce learning concepts and monitor progress with staff feedback.
  • Supervise students during lunch, recess, arrivals, dismissals, and transitions.
  • Foster positive relationships and support independence and social-emotional growth.

  • The hourly Special Education Paraprofessional pay rate to work on assignment with Colonial School District is $20.00/hour.
  • 3 days of Paid Time Off (prorated based on hire date).

  • Special Education Paraprofessionals may support students in one or more of the following areas: Autistic, Emotional, Learning, and Life Skills Support.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

As a Paraprofessional, you will play a vital role in supporting students' academic, behavioral, social, and personal growth within the classroom and school environment. Responsibilities include:

  • Provide instructional, behavioral, and/or physical support to individual students or small groups, including on-task prompting, social skills development, and self-care assistance.
  • Support students with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and 504 Plans by implementing accommodations and strategies as directed.
  • Reinforce learning concepts, classroom instruction, and skill development to help students achieve their educational goals.
  • Work one-on-one or in small groups to provide targeted academic and behavioral support.
  • Assist students in developing organizational, communication, problem-solving, and independent living skills.
  • Guide students through classroom activities, monitor participation and progress, and provide feedback to instructional staff.
  • Promote positive student behavior and help maintain a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment.
  • Collaborate closely with classroom teachers, specialists, and school administrators to support student success.
  • Supervise students during lunch, recess, arrival/dismissal, transitions, and other non-instructional school activities.
  • Foster positive relationships with students while encouraging independence, confidence, and social-emotional growth.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:
  • High School Diploma required. For Title I positions - Must pass for "highly qualified" as mandated by NCLB.
  • Two years post secondary education, or higher, preferred.
  • Prior public-school experience and/or working with school-aged children in a licensed, certified, or registered provider setting - preferred.
