Job Description

** Paraplanner**

MidCoast Wealth Advisors | Merrillville, IN

** We Believe There Is a Better Way.**

Most firms view financial planning as a sales process.

We don't.

At MidCoast, we believe financial planning should be the foundation for every recommendation, strategy, and client relationship.

We're working to build something bigger than a successful advisory practice. We're working to restore our profession to what we believe it was always meant to be:

** Serving, not selling.**

We believe clients deserve clear financial advice in their best interests, not product recommendations driven by sales goals. Our responsibility is to leave people better than we found them through thoughtful advice, proactive guidance, and genuine care for their success.

** About MidCoast**

Our mission is simple:

** Doing things to inspire a 'Well Done' from our team, clients, and community.**

We're a planning-first wealth management and tax planning firm that believes exceptional client outcomes come from thoughtful financial planning, strong relationships, proactive communication, and teamwork.

** The Opportunity**

We're looking for a Paraplanner who enjoys being the engine behind great financial planning relationships.

This role is ideal for someone who:

  • Loves financial planning
  • Enjoys analytical and technical work
  • Wants to make a meaningful impact on clients
  • Thrives behind the scenes supporting advisors
  • Enjoys learning and continuous improvement
  • Takes pride in helping great planning ideas become real-world outcomes

Unlike many paraplanning positions, you won't simply gather data and push paperwork.

You'll play an active role in helping uncover planning opportunities, coordinating client information, supporting advisor recommendations, and ensuring clients receive an exceptional planning experience from start to finish.

** What You'll Do**

_ Financial Planning Support _

  • Gather and organize client financial information
  • Maintain financial planning software data
  • Assist in retirement, investment, tax, estate, insurance, and cash flow analyses
  • Prepare planning reports and recommendations
  • Conduct financial planning research

_ Client Relationship Support _

  • Serve as a point of contact for planning-related client requests
  • Help gather tax returns, account statements, insurance information, estate documents, and other planning data
  • Support client follow-up and implementation activities
  • Collaborate with advisors, operations professionals, and tax professionals to deliver a seamless client experience

_ Planning Excellence _

  • Review plans for accuracy and completeness
  • Assist with retirement income planning analyses
  • Help evaluate Roth conversion opportunities
  • Identify tax-aware planning opportunities
  • Improve planning workflows, systems, and processes

** Professional Development**

We invest heavily in growth and development.

Depending on your experience and career goals, opportunities may include:

  • CFP® Education Support
  • APMA® Designation
  • Tax Planning Education
  • Ed Slott IRA Planning Training
  • Kitces Membership
  • Advanced Planning Training
  • Ongoing Mentorship and Coaching

** We don't simply expect growth. We invest in it.**

** Who Thrives at MidCoast?**

Technical skills matter, but character matters more.

Like Patrick Lencioni describes in The Ideal Team Player , our best team members are:

  • ** Humble**
  • ** Hungry**
  • ** Relationally Smart**

** A Culture Advocate**

We are obsessed with our culture and protect it dearly.

We're looking for someone who embodies our core values:

  • ** Others First**
Serving leads to the greater good of our team, our clients, and our community.
  • ** Build Trust**
Do what you say. No surprises. Treat it like it's your own. Follow through.
  • ** Communicate Well**
Listen first, speak second. Say what you mean, mean what you say. If there's an issue, let's deal with it. Simplify the complexities.
  • ** Be Hungry**
Get after it. Continuously improve. Make it better than you found it.

** Qualifications**

Preferred

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Experience in financial planning, paraplanning, wealth management, tax, accounting, banking, insurance, or a related profession
  • CFP® interest strongly preferred
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • High attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities

** Why Join MidCoast?**

_ We are not simply offering a job._

A mission to help restore our profession to what it was always meant to be: ** Serving, not selling.**
