Job summary

OpenTrain AI, Inc. seeks a part-time contractor to support AI training focused on mechanical CAD data creation and review. You will build fully parametric CAD models from briefs, edit existing designs, and document changes clearly in writing and conversation.

You must have substantial hands-on CAD experience with SolidWorks, FreeCAD, Fusion 360 or Inventor, plus GD&T knowledge and strong attention to detail. Fluent English is required.

You will support AI training focused on reviewing mechanical CAD models. The work involves creating structured training data, checking technical outputs, and explaining your decisions clearly in writing and conversation.

• Create fully parametric 3D CAD models from written briefs using robust feature trees and precise constraints.
• Edit and update existing models to meet technical requirements, then document the changes clearly.
• Check models for dimensional accuracy, tolerance use, and manufacturability.
• Review designs for injection molding, sheet metal, CNC machining, casting, and forging.
• Apply design-for-manufacturing principles and turn design intent into clear, structured CAD data.
• Communicate technical judgments and project updates clearly in written and verbal English.

What it pays and takes

This is a part-time contractor role listed at the entry level for AI training. Prior AI training experience is not required, but the role requires substantial hands‑on mechanical CAD experience and strong technical judgment.

• Pay: $40 to $100 per hour.
• Time: 20 or more hours per week.
• Location: Open to applicants in the countries listed for this role.
• Language: Fluent English.
• Experience: At least four years using SolidWorks, FreeCAD, Fusion 360, Autodesk Inventor, or a comparable parametric CAD platform.
• Education or professional background in mechanical CAD modeling and assembly‑level design.
• Practical experience with GD&T using ASME Y14.5 or an equivalent standard.
• Experience supporting at least two manufacturing methods.
• Strong dimensional accuracy, manufacturability judgment, attention to detail, and ability to follow detailed guidelines consistently.
• Helpful additional experience includes reverse engineering, scan‑to‑CAD, point‑cloud conversion, or CAD workflow automation with Python, iLogic, or VBA.
