OpenTrain AI, Inc. is recruiting a Mechanical Engineering AI Training Expert to create and review engineering materials that help train and validate advanced AI systems.
You will produce 3D CAD models of simple mechanical components, interpret technical drawings, and document requirements, specifications, dimensions, tolerances, and manufacturing considerations. The work combines practical mechanical design judgment with careful evaluation of AI-generated engineering outputs.
OpenTrain is the centralized, open platform where AI training and data-labeling freelancers find work, consolidate opportunities across platforms, and build a unified AI training portfolio they control. We make specialized AI training work easier to track, apply for, and grow into a durable freelance career.
OpenTrain gives freelancers one place to manage AI training opportunities instead of rebuilding proof of work on every platform. A stronger OpenTrain profile helps you show credible experience, discover roles that match your skills, and turn AI training and data-labeling work into a long‑term portfolio.

You will produce 3D CAD models of simple mechanical components, interpret technical drawings, and document requirements, specifications, dimensions, tolerances, and manufacturing considerations. The work combines practical mechanical design judgment with careful evaluation of AI-generated engineering outputs.
Build detailed 3D CAD models of simple mechanical components using tools such as SolidWorks, NX, Creo, or CATIA. Interpret technical drawings and identify critical dimensions, tolerances, and specifications. Document component requirements, technical specifications, and manufacturing tolerances in structured formats. Provide insight on conceptual stress analysis and finite element analysis tasks to support model validation. Review and improve CAD outputs and technical documentation for accuracy and clarity. Give written and verbal feedback that helps train and validate AI systems in mechanical engineering. Collaborate asynchronously with cross-functional teams through remote communication tools.
You should have at least five years of hands‑on mechanical design engineering experience, including practical experience with 3D CAD modeling and finite element analysis. Proficiency in SolidWorks, NX, Creo, CATIA, or comparable platforms is expected. You should be able to produce and interpret comprehensive technical drawings and understand stress analysis, FEA principles, engineering validation, and requirements definition. Strong written and verbal communication skills, close attention to technical detail, and experience carrying engineering work from requirements through validation and documentation are important.
Experience modeling mechanical components as a design engineer and working across multiple CAD platforms is especially useful. Prior AI training experience is not required, making this a strong opportunity for mechanical engineering specialists who want to apply their domain expertise to AI training work.
This is a remote contractor opportunity with asynchronous collaboration.
