Job summary

BioLife Plasma Services in Austin, TX is seeking a Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse). You will determine donor eligibility, review lab results, manage donor adverse events, and notify donors of unsuitable tests under the Center Manager and Center Physician.

You will support vaccination programs, incident management, and ongoing FDA training. Prior clinical experience is preferred and a state EMT-Paramedic license is required.

Qualifications

• Must have state licensure/certification: EMT-Paramedic.
• Current CPR and AED certification.
• Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy.
• Complete FDA-approved BioLife Medical Support Specialist training.
• Two years of clinical or hospital experience.

Responsibilities

• Determine donor eligibility, including informed consent, AIDS education and confidential self-exclusion, medical history interview and acceptance requirements, physical examination, blood testing, and SPE review.
• Evaluate donor reactions per SOPs and manage medical emergencies with the Center Physician's standing orders and donor transport as needed.
• Refer to Center Physician or Medical Affairs for unacceptable findings or medical/technical guidance.
• Support Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees as applicable.
• Manage employee incidents and determine need for further evaluation by occupational health/ER; follow EHS guidance.
• Serve as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and assist investigations related to pandemics.
