Job summary

Baptist Health Lexington is seeking a PRN Paramedic to join our Transport EMS team. You will provide advanced life support care and transport patients under medical direction, supporting the hospital’s EMS missions.

Responsibilities include documenting patient care, maintaining equipment, and ensuring readiness of ambulances and crew. Requirements include KY Paramedic license, BLS, PALS/ACLS, and a valid driver's license. Equal opportunity employer.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Active Paramedic license through the Kentucky Board of EMS.
• BLS for Healthcare Provider issued by AHA or ARC.
• PALS and ACLS certifications.
• Other certifications and specialty training as required by KY Board of EMS.
• Valid driver’s license is required.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care within protocol and scope of practice.
• Recognize, respond to, and communicate changes in patient condition.
• Complete all required documentation and patient care reports timely.
• Provide care appropriate to the emergency population and maintain the care environment.
• Perform ambulance transportation within the Paramedic scope of practice.
• Set priorities for transport of multiple patients.
• Coordinate resources and plan of delivery.
• Maintain knowledge of fleet; operate safely.
• Ensure ambulance is clean, stocked and ready before/after shifts and requests.
• Ensure proper vehicle maintenance and ALS gear readiness.

Education

Job description

Summary

Provides advanced life support care to patients who are ill and/or injured. Administers direct care to the patient of all age groups under the direction of an emergency medical physician, emergency physician’s assistant, and emergency advanced registered nurse practitioner or utilizes approved EMS medical protocols if transporting a patient. Ensures adherence to hospital and department policies as well as paramedic scope of practice.

• Provides patient care within the medical director approved department protocols and state scope of practice.

• Recognizes, responds to, and communicates changes in patient condition appropriately.

• Thoroughly and accurately completes all required documentation and patient care reports within required timeframe.

• Provides care appropriate to the emergency population and maintains the environment of care.

• Performs ambulance transportation services within the scope of practice of a Paramedic.

• Sets priorities for the transport of multiple patients.

• Assures resources and coordinates plan of delivery.

• Maintains knowledge and familiarity with each vehicle in fleet in order to operate smooth and safely.

• Assures ambulance is clean, stocked and response ready at the beginning and end of every shift as well as prior to each and every request for service.

• Ensures proper vehicle maintenance and equipment readiness as well as proper ALS gear readiness and utilization.

Minimum Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalency required.

• Active Paramedic license through the Kentucky Board of EMS at time of consideration.

• BLS for Healthcare Provider issued by AHA or ARC.

• PALS & ACLS certifications.

• Other certifications and specialty training as required by the Kentucky Board of EMS.

• Valid driver’s license.
