Job Description Summary

Responsible for evaluating donor suitability for automated pheresis procedures, administering and supervising approved immunizations (excluding red blood cell immunizations), and providing limited emergency medical care to donors and staff, including medication or treatments in accordance with licensure or certification.

Responsibilities

1. Promote positive customer relations with all donors.
2. Conduct confidential interviews to assess donor suitability.
3. Respond to medically related questions from staff in conjunction with medical directors.
4. Perform health assessments and review lab results to determine donor suitability.
5. Notify and counsel donors on reactive test results and refer for follow-up.
6. Explain informed consent, including procedures, hazards, and rights.
7. Handle medical emergencies and maintain emergency supplies.
8. Review test results and determine continued suitability, adhering to SOPs.
9. Assess signs and symptoms affecting donation ability.
10. Manage immunization programs, including administration and review of antibody titers.
11. Accurately record donor data in the electronic system.
12. Maintain a clean environment and ensure supplies are available.
13. Follow safety and confidentiality policies.
14. Possibly cross-train in other areas and meet bilingual requirements.
15. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Graduation from a paramedic, nursing, physician assistant, chiropractic, medical school, or naturopathic program.
• If from a foreign medical school, current licensure or certification is required.
• Minimum one year of healthcare experience; experience in blood collection preferred.
• Ability to conduct physical assessments and instruct donors and staff.
