The Opportunity

Responsible for evaluating donor suitability for automated pheresis procedures, supervising immunizations other than red blood cell immunizations, and providing limited emergency medical care to donors and staff, including medication or treatments in accordance with licensure or certification.

You will report to the Center Manager.

The Role

1. Promote positive customer relations with all donors.
2. Conduct confidential and effective interviews to assess donor suitability.
3. Respond to medically related questions with the Center Medical Director and/or Center Physician.
4. Perform medical history reviews and health assessments, and analyze donor screening and lab results.
5. Notify and counsel donors regarding reactive test results and refer for follow-up.
6. Explain informed consent, including procedures, hazards, and rights, and obtain signatures.
7. Handle medical emergencies per SOPs and ensure emergency kits are stocked.
8. Review test results for continued donor suitability and manage immunization programs.
9. Accurately record donor data in the electronic management system.
10. Maintain a clean work environment, ensure supplies are available, and follow safety policies.
11. Maintain confidentiality of all personnel, donor, and center information.
12. May be cross-trained in other areas and may require bilingual skills.
13. Perform other duties as assigned.

Your Skills And Experience

Education

• Graduation from a paramedic, nursing, physician assistant, chiropractic, medical school, or naturopathic program.
• Foreign medical graduates must be licensed or certified accordingly.

Experience

• At least one year in a healthcare environment.
• Experience in plasma or blood collection preferred.
• Ability to assess heart, lung sounds, and signs of drug use.
• Ability to instruct donors and staff about plasma donation benefits.

Working Conditions

• Ability to make moderate-impact decisions.
• Follow oral and written instructions.
• Visual and verbal communication skills.
• Stand and walk up to 100%, perform skin assessments, reach, bend, kneel, and lift up to 25 pounds.
• Operate in a fast-paced environment with potential exposure to hazards and bloodborne pathogens.
• Wear PPE as required and work overtime if needed.
