Job summary

GoHealth Urgent Care is seeking a Medical Assistant to join our urgent care centers. The role supports patient intake, vitals, and point-of-care tests while collaborating with clinicians to deliver a seamless patient experience.

The position requires a High School Diploma, MA program completion preferred, and BLS certification at hire. Candidates without MA certification must obtain one within 15 months, and CPOE certification must be achieved within two weeks of start date.

Qualifications

• Healthcare background preferred (LPN/MA/EMT/CNA)
• Front desk or patient registration experience preferred
• BLS certification required at time of hire (American Red Cross or American Heart Association)
• Candidates with MA certification less than one year of experience must hold one MA certification (CCMA CMA RMA NCMA NRCMA)
• If no MA certification, must obtain within 15 months of hire
• CPOE certification for order entry required within two weeks of start date

Responsibilities

• Register patients and verify insurance and documentation
• Schedule appointments and process co-pays
• Prepare patients for examination and record medical history
• Perform vital signs and preliminary patient assessments
• Conduct point-of-care testing (flu, strep, urinalysis, ECG, HCG)
• Assist providers with patient care and procedures
• Maintain exam rooms, supplies, and medical records
• Answer patient questions and coordinate referrals
• Perform opening/closing duties and maintain equipment quality checks

Job Requirements

• High School Diploma required
• Graduate of a Medical Assisting Program preferred
• Medical Assistant experience preferred

• Certification / Equivalent Experience: Candidates with less than one year of Medical Assistant experience must hold one of the following certifications: CCMA – Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (NHA) CMA – Certified Medical Assistant (AAMA) RMA – Registered Medical Assistant (AMT) NCMA – National Certified Medical Assistant (NCCT) NRCMA – Nationally Registered Medical Assistant (NAHP)
• In lieu of a Medical Assistant certification, we will also accept: 1+ years of Medical Assistant experience in a hospital or urgent care setting 1+ years of phlebotomy experience Graduate of an accredited nursing program (LPN or RN) EMT – Emergency Medical Technician Paramedic CNA – Certified Nursing Assistant
