Job summary

GoHealth Urgent Care is seeking a Medical Assistant to support urgent care centers with accurate patient processing, vitals, and point-of-care tests. Your clinical training and healthcare background will help provide a high-quality patient experience aligned with our values.

Minimum requirements include a High School Diploma, MA program completion or equivalent, BLS certification, and MA certification within 15 months if not initially attained.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• Graduate of a Medical Assisting Program preferred.
• Medical Assistant experience preferred.
• Front desk or patient registration experience preferred.
• BLS certification required at time of hire.
• Certification / Equivalent Experience options listed (CCMA, CMA, RMA, NCMA, NRCMA).
• Candidates without an MA certification must obtain one within 15 months of hire.
• CPOE certification for order entry required within two weeks of start date.

Responsibilities

• Register patients and verify insurance and documentation.
• Schedule appointments and process co-pays.
• Prepare patients for examination and record medical history.
• Perform vital signs and preliminary patient assessments.
• Conduct point-of-care testing (flu, strep, urinalysis, ECG, HCG).
• Assist providers with patient care and procedures.
• Maintain exam rooms, supplies, and medical records.
• Answer patient questions and coordinate referrals.
• Perform opening/closing duties and maintain equipment quality checks.

Job Requirements

• High School Diploma required

• Certification / Equivalent Experience: Candidates with less than one year of Medical Assistant experience must hold one of the following certifications: CCMA – Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (NHA) CMA – Certified Medical Assistant (AAMA) RMA – Registered Medical Assistant (AMT) NCMA – National Certified Medical Assistant (NCCT) NRCMA – Nationally Registered Medical Assistant (NAHP)
• In lieu of a Medical Assistant certification, we will also accept: 1+ years of Medical Assistant experience in a hospital or urgent care setting 1+ years of phlebotomy experience Graduate of an accredited nursing program (LPN or RN) EMT – Emergency Medical Technician Paramedic CNA – Certified Nursing Assistant
