Job summary

UPMC-GoHealth Urgent Care, LLC is seeking a Medical Assistant to join our urgent care centers. The role supports efficient patient flow, clinical documentation, and basic testing with a focus on delivering high-quality care.

Requirements include a High School Diploma or equivalent with 1+ years MA experience or an MA certification; LPN/LVN graduates and nursing degree holders are encouraged to apply. Hourly pay starts at $17 with monthly incentive pay and a sign-on bonus up to $2,000.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent AND 1+ years MA experience in Hospital/Primary Care/ED/UR setting OR MA certifications (CCMA/CMA/RMA/NCMA/NRCMA).
• Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing, LPN/LVN, EMT, Paramedic also eligible.
• CPOE certification required within 2 weeks if MA cert not obtained; BLS required at hire.

Responsibilities

• Register patients and verify insurance and documentation.
• Schedule appointments and process co-pays.
• Prepare patients for examination and record medical history.
• Perform vital signs and preliminary patient assessments.
• Conduct point-of-care testing (flu, strep, urinalysis, ECG, HCG).
• Assist providers with patient care and procedures.
• Maintain exam rooms, supplies, and medical records.
• Answer patient questions and coordinate referrals.
• Perform opening/closing duties and maintain equipment quality checks.
• Support a safe, organized, and patient-centered clinical environment.
• All other duties as assigned.

Job description

Minimum hourly rate starts at $17/hour and is commensurate with experience. This position offers monthly incentive pay based on performance metrics. Sign on bonus up to $2,000 (for eligible applicants.*) We welcome candidates from a variety of clinical backgrounds. Healthcare professionals such as Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs), Paramedics, and PCTs with healthcare backgrounds are encouraged to apply.
