Job summary

The UPMC Center for Emergency Medicine is seeking a Casual Paramedic Instructor to support the Education department and directly teach students in EMT programs.

The role involves assisting the Paramedic Program Director with planning and execution of education programs, and delivering classroom instruction while upholding professional standards.

Responsibilities

• Cover all of the material assigned by the Paramedic Program Director in accordance with the Department of Health and DOT Guidelines.
• Develop and administer regular quizzes and homework assignments.
• Inform the Paramedic Program Director when individual students are failing to make satisfactory academic progress.
• Serve as a role model for professional attitudes and behavior.
• If you are unable to cover all of the material, inform the Coordinator of EMS Education as early as possible to assure that other arrangements can be made.
• Monitor the students' progress and provide reasonable supplemental instruction and/or individual tutoring if students are having difficulty with the course content.
• Preview all examinations prior to administration.
• Administer standardized examinations as scheduled.
• Begin and end all classes on time. Under no circumstances should classes be rescheduled without the approval of the Paramedic Program Director.
• Maintain student and class records in a standardized manner.
• Conduct your class in accordance with all Center, State, Federal and AMA training standards.
• Provide students with constructive feedback, direction, and counseling.
• Grade all quizzes, examinations, and student assignments in a timely manner.
