An EMT-Paramedic provides the highest level of medical care and transportation to EMS system patients. The Paramedic brings the hospital Emergency Department to the patient's side and acts as the eyes and ears of the emergency room physician. In non-emergency situations, the team provides transportation for patients requiring ambulance services, continuing treatments received inside the hospital with minimal or no interruption during transit.Teamwork at Trans-Care is vital to a strong EMS system.

What Will I Do as an EMT-Paramedic?

An EMT-Paramedic provides the highest level of medical care and transportation to EMS system patients, bringing the hospital Emergency Department to the patient's side and acting as the eyes and ears of the emergency room physician. In non-emergency cases, the team provides transportation for patients with medical conditions, ensuring continued treatment with minimal interruption.

Job Duties:

• Perform all skills and procedures as outlined by the Indiana EMS Commission curriculum.
• Meet the requirements of Trans-Care’s Medical Direction for affiliation and clinical oversight.
• Practice skills and duties within the Standard of Care Protocol, physician orders, and higher medical authority directions.
• Follow all Trans-Care policies and procedures.
• Respond to EMS calls as assigned, observing policies on shift timing.
• Operate and oversee the operation of assigned vehicles according to Indiana laws and Trans-Care policies.
• Follow all policies regarding customer and patient interactions, maintaining honesty and respect.
• Maintain patient confidentiality per privacy policies and federal/state laws.
• Report any breaches of confidentiality or policy violations to the Privacy Officer promptly.
• Remain courteous and professional, avoiding sarcasm, argumentativeness, or hostility.
• Prior to each shift, check and certify all ALS equipment is operational and on the vehicle.
• Account for and check all narcotics and medications, replacing expired items.
• Maintain ongoing education as required by Indiana State EMT Agency.
• Operate vehicles and conduct personal conduct following laws and safety policies.
• Complete and submit documentation accurately and timely.
• Maintain a clean, hazard-free work environment.
• Precept new paramedics, EMT-Basics, and students as assigned.
• Report vehicle issues and submit repair reports.
• Maintain physical fitness to perform duties safely.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors.
