Job summary

AdventHealth in Orlando, FL is seeking a Licensed Paramedic to join the Emergency Department team. The role involves ventilatory support, ECGs, and critical patient transport under physician supervision, with responsibilities across pre/post-procedure care and acute emergencies.

Requirements include current Paramedic license, BLS/ACLS certification, and 1+ year paramedic experience; schedule is Monday–Friday, day shift in a full-time hospital setting, with comprehensive benefits offered.

• Advanced ECG interpretation preferred.
• Basic computer literacy recommended.

Responsibilities

• Operates positive pressure ventilation devices and provides supplemental oxygen therapy.
• Obtains patient history and vital signs; performs 12-lead ECGs and monitors cardiac telemetry.
• Follows infection control guidelines and uses PPE appropriately.
• Maintains accurate medical records and processes amendments.
• Assists with pre-procedural preparation and patient transport in and out of procedures.
• Assists ED RN with STEMI patient transport to Cath Lab.
• Establishes IV access and administers IV fluids and medications as needed.
• Performs arterial/venous access and manages hemodynamics during emergencies.

Job Schedule:

Schedule : Monday - Friday. No weekends and No holidays.

Job Description:

• Uses positive pressure ventilation devices, suctions the upper airway, and provides supplemental oxygen therapy.
• Obtains patient history, vital signs, performs 12 lead EKGs, and monitors/interprets cardiac telemetry.
• Follows CDC isolation guidelines, uses PPE appropriately, performs hand hygiene, and maintains aseptic technique.
• Produces accurate and prompt medical records, ensuring authenticity and security, and follows the process for amending documents.
• Assists with pre-procedural prep, transports patients pre and post-procedure, including those with sheaths or under sedation.
• Assists Emergency Department Registered Nurse with transporting STEMI patients to the Cardiac Catheterization Lab.
• Capable of arterial and venous sheath removal, bleeding control, and obtaining hemostasis.
• Uses external defibrillator for cardioversions, manual defibrillation, and transcutaneous pacing.
• Performs venipuncture for laboratory testing and CPR when needed.
• Under physician supervision, performs exercise and pharmacologic cardiac stress testing.
• Monitors and transports patients with ACLS approved medication drips and administers medications by IV push or infusion in emergencies.
• Establishes and maintains peripheral intravenous access and administers non-medicated intravenous fluid therapy.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Basic arrhythmia interpretation. [Required]
