Job summary

Cape Fear Valley Health System is seeking a Paramedic to join its Emergency Department-based EMS team in Raeford, NC. You will perform ALS-level patient care, monitor vitals, administer treatments per protocol and coordinate with a supervisory/medical control framework.

The role requires NC Paramedic certification, BLS, a valid driver's license, and completion of NIMS courses. Prior ALS service experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Current Paramedic certification by the State of North Carolina required.
• Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) as sponsored by American Heart Association required.
• Possess and maintain a current driver’s license and acceptable driving record for EMS department required.
• Completion of NIMS 100, 200 and 700 for EMS department required.
• 1 year experience with an advanced life support service preferred.
• 1 year of field EMS/Rescue or related work experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Obtain, record and update vital signs (temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure and weight).
• Monitor patient’s respiratory status and initiate oxygen therapy per protocol.
• Inspect, clean, inventory and restock the ambulance and report deficiencies.
• Perform airway management including suctioning as needed.
• Assist in C-spine stabilization and patient immobilization.

In concert with state certification and local medical control, the incumbent will contribute to a busy metropolitan “advanced life support” ambulance service providing emergency, non-emergency, convalescent, and long-distance service. Workload is considered demanding and the service sets specific performance requirements which must be met. May work under the supervision of a Shift Supervisor and a training officer.
