Job summary

Paramedic Services of Illinois, Inc. is seeking a dedicated Paramedic to join our team of emergency responders.

You will provide high-quality medical care, respond to calls, and perform treatments in accordance with protocol while maintaining safety and professional standards. The role requires current Illinois paramedic licensure, strong patient communication, and the ability to work in dynamic, high-pressure environments.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
• Current Illinois Driver’s License with proper classification.
• Successful completion of a Paramedic program and current Illinois Department of Public Health license.
• Ability to complete continuing education and testing requirements.
• State of Illinois Firefighter Certifications (for Firefighter applicants)
• Background check and pre-employment testing including Fit-for-Duty, Drug Screening, Agility and Lifting Evaluation.

Responsibilities

• Respond promptly to emergency calls and assess patient medical needs.
• Administer appropriate treatments and interventions per protocols.
• Safely lift, transfer, and maneuver patients into/out of ambulances and facilities.
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare partners for coordinated care.
• Maintain accurate transport and equipment documentation; report safety issues promptly.
• Comply with PSI/Health Department continuing education and licensure requirements.
• Maintain professional appearance and demeanor; uphold safety and readiness standards.
• Assist with vehicle/equipment maintenance and station upkeep.
• Participate in public education, training, and community health initiatives.
