Qualifications

• License or Certification: Paramedic License in the state of Alabama required.
• Maintain current BLS certification.
• Experience: No previous experience required

Responsibilities

• Performs ambulance maintenance and ensures radio equipment is operational.
• Responds to calls within time guidelines and delivers care per BLS/ALS guidelines.
• Maintains competency in emergency medical care including suction, IVs, medications, monitors and defibrillator use.
• Participates in continuing education to improve ambulance service and operations.
• Safety-driven driving of ambulance under emergency conditions; understands local geography.
• Completes patient care reports at time of care and documents care accurately.
• Follows facility guidelines and state/federal EMS regulations.
• Establishes positive working relationships with pre-hospital providers and hospitals.
• Able to lift/move patients to provide optimum care.
• Communicates with receiving facility for direction and critical information.
• Communicates with dispatch to receive call data; performs basic patient care for all ages in ED.
