Responsibilities

• Evaluate donor reactions and follow SOPs for medical emergencies.
• Consult Center Physician or Medical Affairs for unacceptable findings.
• Support Hepatitis B and seasonal flu vaccination programs.
• Manage employee incidents and refer to occupational health or EHS.
• Act as Pandemic Coordinator supporting investigations related to pandemic threats.

Job Description

Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) responsible for determining donor eligibility, managing donor adverse events, reviewing laboratory test results, notifying donors of unsuitable test results, and supporting plasma center operations under guidance of the Center Manager and Physician. Familiarity with plasma collection regulations and environmental, health and safety (EHS) standards required.

How you will contribute

• Determine donor eligibility with informed consent, health history, physical exam, blood testing, and reviewing serological protein electrophoresis.
• Evaluate donor reactions and follow SOPs for medical emergencies, including developing Center Physician standing orders and transporting donors to emergency care.
• Consult Center Physician or Medical Affairs for unacceptable findings or medical/technical guidance, ensuring donor safety and eligibility.
• Support Hepatitis B and seasonal flu vaccination programs for employees.
• Manage employee incidents, refer to occupational health or EHS when further evaluation is required.
• Act as Pandemic Coordinator as authorized by EHS, supporting investigations related to pandemic threats.

Compensation and Benefits

Location: USA - IA - Cedar Falls

Hourly wage range: $23.04 - $31.68
