Job summary

BioLife Plasma Services is seeking a Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) in Kansas City to ensure donor eligibility, manage adverse events, and support vaccination programs. You will be working closely under the guidance of the Center Manager and Physician.

Job Description

The Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) reports to the Plasma Center Manager and supports plasma center operations by determining donor eligibility, managing donor adverse events, reviewing laboratory test results, and notifying donors of unsuitable test results. The role is under the guidance of the Center Manager (or Assistant Manager) and the Center Physician for medical issues.

Responsibilities

• Determine donor eligibility, including informed consent, AIDS education, confidential self‑exclusion, medical history interview, physical examination, blood testing, and reviewing Serological Protein Electrophoresis (SPE).
• Evaluate donor reaction(s) during procedure, following SOPs for medical emergencies and donor transport.
• Consult with the Center Physician or Medical Affairs for unacceptable findings or medical/technical guidance.
• Support Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees.
• Manage employee incidents and coordinate further evaluation with occupational health/ER and EHS guidance.
• Act as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and assist investigations of pandemic threats.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent, including a graduate equivalent of a recognized educational nursing program with state requirements.
• Currently licensed or certified in the state of assignment: LPN or LVN.
• Current CPR and AED certification.
• Fulfillment of state requirements for basic IV therapy.
• Completion of the FDA‑approved training requirements for BioLife Medical Support Specialist.
• Two years in a clinical or hospital setting.
