Job summary

SGMC Health is seeking a Paramedic to respond to calls, assess and treat patients, and transport them to care settings. The role requires current GA paramedic licensure, BLS and ACLS certifications, and the ability to perform advanced life support in diverse environments.

The position is based at EMS Station One within the EMS - Ambulance Service department; full-time with varied hours and shifts. The candidate must maintain certifications and complete required trainings as per Georgia laws and

Qualifications

• Currently licensed as a PARAMEDIC by the Georgia Department of Public Health.
• Must be currently certified and maintain certification in BLS, Advanced Cardiac Life Support.
• Must complete annual educational requirements as prescribed by Georgia laws / regulations, and department policies/procedures.
• Must be able to demonstrate ability to perform practical skills proficiently in BLS, advanced cardiac life support, and other advanced life support procedures on adult, pediatric and infant patients.
• Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license and a good driving history in accordance with the Medical Center’s insurance carrier’s standards.
• If not current, the following certifications are preferred: Emergency Pediatric Course; STABLE Program; Advanced Medical Life Support; Advanced Stroke Life Support; Advanced Burn Life Support (if available); Haz-Mat Awareness. NIMS ICS 100, 200, 700, 800 are required within 3 months of employment. If not current in PALS, must complete the certification within 12 months from hire date.

Responsibilities

• Responds to calls for service, providing assessment, treatment modalities, and transportation of patients in a variety of controlled and uncontrolled settings.
• Provides treatment interventions and advanced life support consistent with department guidelines and according to credentials issued by state authorities.
• Provides emergency care and rescue in a variety of situations where personal safety may be at risk; may assist with transfers between settings.
