Job summary

Firelands Health in Sandusky, OH seeks a capable paramedic education specialist to design and coordinate staff and community programs that promote staff wellness and professional growth.

You will lead professional development for Medical Center staff, maintain accreditation records, support nursing orientation, and build instructor networks, including ACLS/PALS/BLS with current standards.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited paramedic program.
• Current EMT-Paramedic certification in Ohio; NREMT preferred.
• ACLS, PALS, and BLS Instructor Status through American Heart Association or ability to obtain within 90 days.
• Ability to work flexible hours including weekends and evenings as needed.
• Successful completion of a 90 day probationary period.

Responsibilities

• Designs and coordinates staff and community wellness programs.
• Coordinates professional development for Medical Center staff to maintain licensure.
• Develop and maintain records required for accrediting/regulatory standards.
• Develop simulation education for Nursing and other departments.
• Supports orientation programs: General, Nursing, and Code Ready.
• Develop tailored training for departments (BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC) using current standards.
• Coordinate instructor updates, renewals and recruit new instructors.
• Support e-learning education through Education Council collaboration.
• Plan, coordinate, implement and evaluate PD programs as requested.
• Submit QA reports to the Director, Education Services.

What You Will Do:

• Under the Director of Education Services, designs and coordinates staff and community programs to enhance staff abilities and to promote wellness in the community and corporate structure.
• Assists in coordinating professional development programs for Medical Center staff to maintain licensure/certification requirements.
• Responsible for development, implementation and maintenance of records/reports required for accrediting agencies and healthcare regulatory standards; recommends timely record management changes as required.
• Participates in developing simulation education for Nursing and other departments.
• Under the direction of the Director, supports General Orientation, Nursing Orientation and Code Ready programs.
• Assists with the development of tailored programs for Medical Center departments that assist in meeting department specific educational needs (BLS, ACLS EKG Basics, PALS, Aegis & TNCC) utilizing current standards of care and evidence-based practices.
• Coordinates and implements instructor updates, renewals and develops new instructors for each program.
• Supports e-learning education through Education Council collaboration.
• Plans, coordinates, implements and evaluates requested/required professional development programs
• Responsible for compiling and timely submitting QA reports to the Director, Education Services.

What You Will Need:

• Required to be a graduate of an accredited program of paramedic training.
• Required to possess a current certification as an EMT-Paramedic from the State of Ohio; National Registry is preferred.
• ACLS, PALS, and BLS Instructor Status through American Heart Association or ability to obtain within 90 days. Additional instructor statuses highly encouraged.
• Ability to work flexible hours including weekends and evenings as needed.
• Successful completion of a 90 day probationary period.
