Job summary

Firelands Health in Sandusky, OH, is seeking a Paramedic to join the Emergency Department team. You will deliver care to patients with varying acuity under the supervision of the ED physician and registered nurse, interacting with patients and families while maintaining high standards of emergency care.

The role requires graduation from an accredited paramedic program, Ohio EMT-Paramedic certification, at least 1 year of pre-hospital emergency care, and current BLS/ACLS (PALS within one year).

Qualifications

• Must be graduate of an accredited program of paramedic training.
• Must possess a current certification as an EMT-Paramedic from the State of Ohio; National Registry is preferred.
• Minimum of one year's experience in pre-hospital emergency care.
• Must be currently certified in BLS and ACLS; PALS within one year of employment.
• Works with acutely ill patients, including emergency situations.

Responsibilities

• Interact with patients, families and health care team while maintaining emergency care standards.
• Assist with assessment, information gathering and documenting patient care.
• Perform life-saving or limb-saving measures under physician direction.
• Initiate IV/IO access and manage fluids as ordered.
• Drape, wound care and dressing preparation; assists with suturing if needed.
• Apply oxygen therapy and monitor patient vitals, including orthostatic vitals.
• Trauma/stroke team member and participate in patient care delivery.
